Orientation in Europe from June 11 to September 8, 2011 with the compliments of Jacco van Duin BV
I still remember the frustration and emotion that Vincent van Gogh’s paintings had on me when I visit his museum. Especially ‘De Aardapeleters’ made me feel my own struggle in the period 2004 – 2009. But ‘What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’ said Frederic Nietzsche.
The impact this short term visit through The Netherlands, Cologne and Paris had on me, was great. When I got back home, on March, 5th 2012 I destroyed all my artworks. This ritual gave birth to Ezinomrah: an alter ego to dig deep into my darkness and see where life would bring me.
Standing in front of Wilfredo Lam’s artworks for the first time in September 2012 (Havana) was, with the experience of the Europe trip, a turning point for me. I started to work in a different way and on December, 21 2012 I proudly presented new work through a solo exhibition ‘SHEMACHO – I challenge I’ that symbolized a new cycle in my artistic career.
